The Access Fund Team at Lancashire County Council has been established having been awarded funding from the Department for Transport (DfT). The aim is to support the development of more active travel in East Lancashire. So if you would like to encourage more colleagues to try travelling to work on foot or by bike, public transport or car sharing, then there are grants plus free advice and support available.
There are grants available (max. £5000) to enterprises looking to invest in sustainable transport and initiatives that can reduce carbon emissions. If you co-host with other organisations then Joint Applications can be considered to maximize the opportunities for all workers on an individual site, or trading estate. There was a similar scheme a few years ago and if you were involved previously, you can now apply again.
What an Access Fund grant can be used for?
Examples of eligible projects for funding include:
– Pool bikes, including electric bikes;
– Shower, drying and lockers;
– Covered and secure cycle storage;
– Electric vehicle charging points;
– Introduction of bespoke organisation car sharing mini-website and bike salary sacrifice schemes;
– Delivery of sustainable travel roadshows and promotions;
– In addition, we can arrange cycle and bike maintenance courses, personal travel planning, promotional materials for events and support creating travel action plans and site audits…
Everything to help make active travel choices for your company practical to your circumstances!
When can organisations apply? Right now!
We have funding available within this financial year (before the end of March 2018) and are keen to engage with businesses and organisations that can move promptly where possible. There will be further funds available from April 2018, (2018-19 and 2019-20) where we envisage significant demand on these grants and, therefore, earlier applications will have a greater chance of being successful.
The application is straight forward to complete and money for projects is paid upfront in readiness for introduction later on in the year. The matched funding can be ‘in-kind’, for example staff time, or include a financial contribution.
