In 2015 the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) announced its intention to create a historic and transformational change at its Preston Campus through a £200 million Campus Masterplan development. The new facilities will attract and retain new talent and create a cutting-edge environment that showcases UCLan’s key principles of openness, transparency and accessibility, whilst developing a skilled workforce which meets local, national and international needs.Over the course of the last three years the University has succeeded in creating two £8.15 million social spaces for staff and students, one £1.5 million multifaith centre named Oasis and a £35 million Engineering Innovation Centre (EIC).

The EIC opened in October 2019 and is an advanced, state-of-the-art teaching and research facility which engages directly with industry and provides students with real-world experience on live projects. The EIC acts as one of the driving forces behind the industrial strategy both on a regional and national scale, addressing the need for innovation and producing the next generation of world-class engineers.Find out more about these exciting changes to the University Campus, tour the new award winning EIC and see how UCLan are investing their money.
