The work does not end with the delivery of the video, they work closely with clients to help grow their businesses by telling their company story in a compelling, exciting, and sophisticated way for their relevant audiences.

Clare Waterfall, production manager at Bigtank is a fully qualified teacher of Creative Media and appreciates the value of work-based learning combined with vocation study. Clare has worked with several educational institutes to provide work experience opportunities for students. Clare states “I am passionate about helping to create bright futures for students who want to gain valuable work experience while studying. I know, myself how important it is to be able to show future employers that you have gained some work experience whilst in education and how functional application of knowledge and skills can enhance their learning”.

As Bigtank has grown, they have offered aspiring students to undertake work experience with Blackburn College resulting in their newest employee, apprentice Laurence Gray. Laurence is able to work at Bigtank whilst completing a Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship at UCLAN. Previous Bigtank Apprentice, Josh Parker joined the Video Production company on completion of his training and is a crucial member of the team. Rob Hallam, Managing Director of Bigtank, states: “Not only is it great for the students to gain knowledge of business practices, the team here at Bigtank can benefit from the skills of the students”. It is both rewarding for the student and the team at Bigtank to work together.

Work experience is important to gain whilst you’re studying as it helps you to gain relevant experience, knowledge, confidence and exposure to ‘real-life’ work. The video production team have recently offered internships to students at Edge Hill University. Business Development Coordinator, Alex Fruin has worked with Bigtank and students to make sure everything runs smoothly. He says “The work placement opportunities that Bigtank have provided for our students have been invaluable. Both the students and Bigtank have benefited from the experience and shared their knowledge and skills. We look forward to continuing to work with Bigtank to offer students similar opportunities in the future.” The current interns, Nina, Eddy and Alex are from different subject areas, this allowing them to learn from each other as well as the Bigtank team. Alex who is studying BA (Hons) Film and Television Production aspires to become a film director and will take all the possible steps to get there. Creative Writing student Eddy is supporting the Sales and Marketing operations through networking, business development and producing marketing content. Nina studies BA (Hons) English Language and is working alongside Clare to help write articles, blog posts and manage the social media for the business. Nina says “This is an amazing opportunity to be able to gain some confidence, have a feel of what a full-time working environment is like and to enjoy the rewards of contributing to a successful business. Plus, it’ll look great on my CV!”
